Apple Pie Pudding Shots for Thanksgiving…Don’t mind if I do! These delicious vanilla pudding shots are the perfect adult-only treat to have at your Thanksgiving feast this year.
Eating apple pie on Thanksgiving is a must in my opinion. Don’t you agree? In our house, there isn’t a single year that goes by where apple pie doesn’t make its appearance on our Thanksgiving dessert table. It’s a no-brainer for us here at the lake!
This year, as I am sure you are all aware, has been the pits. I’ve been trying my best to make the most of all the holidays and events this year and adding a little bit of “extraness” to make things special. So as an added treat for Thanksgiving this year, I decided to spice things up a bit and transform the delicious flavors of apple pie into a vanilla pudding shot recipe.
I must say, I knocked it out of the park with the flavor combination of these apple pie pudding shots, folks. These little bundles of joy are dreamy! My mouth is watering just thinking about them.
Their amazing taste is just part of the package. Besides the delicious flavors, these shots are even more spectacular because they can be made ahead of time. Thanksgiving is already a crazy time so anything that can be made ahead of time is a must!

You can simply make the vanilla pudding shots and store them in the freezer until you’re ready to serve them to your guests. This part can actually be done days in advance if you really wanted to. The only issue will be trying not to eat them all yourself!
The apple garnish can be made ahead of time too, but I don’t recommend doing this more than 24 hours beforehand. The apples will just turn to mush if you do! I recommend making the apple garnish the day before by chopping up your apples and then adding a splash of lemon juice to prevent them from browning.
I like to make these pudding shots in plastic gelatin shot glasses because they come with lids and are easy to pop in the freezer. You can always make these in regular shot glasses if you’re looking for a classier presentation. Regardless of the shot glasses you use, you’ll want to make sure to leave some room at the top to add all your yummy apple fixings.
Preparing the recipe as is will make about two dozen apple pie pudding shots if you’re using the plastic gelatin shot glasses like me. Feel free to double the recipe below if you’re serving a larger crowd!
Apple Pie Pudding Shots
8 oz. whipped topping (thawed), ½ cup Crown Royal Apple Whiskey, 1 cup milk, 3.4 oz. instant vanilla pudding, apples (I used 1 red and 1 green), caramel sauce, apple pie spice (cinnamon works too)
In a bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding, milk, and Crown Royal Apple Whiskey. Make sure to whisk thoroughly to dissolve the pudding mixture.
Let the mixture sit for a good five minutes until it thickens up a bit.
Gently fold in your thawed whipped topping into the pudding mixture.
Next, grab your plastic gelatin shot containers or regular shot glasses.
Using a large ice cream scoop, begin filling your containers with the vanilla pudding mixture. Don’t fill them completely to the top so you have enough room to add your garnishes.
For the garnish, chop your apples into bite-sized pieces. If you’re not going to use the apples immediately, I recommend tossing them in a little lemon juice to prevent them from browning.
If you’re making these pudding shots a day ahead, simply add the apples in a reusable container and store them in the fridge.
For the apple pie pudding shots, simply place the plastic lids on top and put them in the freezer. The shots will stay cold in the freezer until you’re ready to serve them. They will actually never freeze so I recommend just storing them in the freezer until you’re ready to enjoy them.
When you’re ready to serve, add a couple of pieces of apples to the top of your vanilla pudding shots.
Drizzle them with caramel sauce and sprinkle with apple pie spice. Cinnamon would work just as well for this!
To put it lightly, these Apple Pie Pudding Shots are life-changing. Your Thanksgiving just wouldn’t be complete without this delicious recipe for vanilla pudding shots. Go buy the ingredients, ASAP. You’ll be in absolute heaven after trying these!

These look so yummy Tiffany! Have you ever made them without the liquor? Yes, I know that’s defeating the purpose–but I’d like to try them with another non-alcoholic flavoring and see if they work. They look so fun and like you, I’m always looking for something fun to eat and drink for the holidays. Great post!
I think you could potentially try switching out the apple whiskey for apple juice instead! If you try it, please let me know how it comes out.
I was wondering about topping with a tiny spoon full of cooked diced apples. Like apple pie filling.
That sounds amazing!! Let me know how it turns out ❤️❤️
