Welcome to another installment of Thirsty Thursdays where I share an easy and delicious cocktail recipe with you here on the blog. I’m referring to today’s Thirsty Thursday as the “Vacation-Mode” edition because the cocktail I created is one that someone would easily enjoy sitting by the water on a Caribbean island with.

Sadly, I should literally be sitting on a Caribbean island at this very moment but our vacation plans for the summer were canceled due to the Coronavirus. Our family had a Royal Caribbean cruise scheduled with stops in Puerto Rico, St. Kitts, and the Bahamas. I completely understand the reason the trip was canceled but that doesn’t mean I’m still not bummed about missing out on it!

Because I’m not actually able to be in the Caribbean right now with the family, I figured I’d bring a little taste of the Caribbean into my own home. Living on the lake, I can still soak up some sunshine and water views even if I can’t be on a beach in San Juan until things start to clear up with the virus.

I’ve already added some great cocktails on the blog that are perfect for these warm weather months. A couple of them include my Pineapple Sex on the Beach and Strawberry Margaritas on the Rocks but I’ve yet to add a rum punch recipe until today.

Rum punch is a must-try cocktail if ever you find yourself vacationing in the Caribbean. I knew I had to recreate my own version of a rum punch if I really wanted to trick my brain into thinking I was truly on a trip in the Caribbean. Rum punch and a Caribbean vacation go hand-in-hand. Am I right?

My version of a rum punch features the flavors of banana, coconut, and pineapple. All three of which are at the top of my favorite fruit flavors ever! The only fruit I’m missing from this line-up is mango. If you’re a mango fan, try my Spicy Mango Margaritas…you won’t be disappointed.

Although the measurements in my recipe below are for a banana coconut rum punch for one, I wanted to share how you could easily adapt this recipe for a crowd. Add a batch of the rum punch into a punch bowl or pitcher and you’re set for your summer BBQ, pool party, or lake day!

To make a pitcher of this banana coconut rum punch, you’ll want to mix together 4 cups of banana rum, 2 cup of coconut rum, and 8 cups of pineapple juice ONLY. You can leave a bottle of the grenadine next to the pitcher for your guests to add a splash after they pour themselves a drink.

The grenadine is added more for the pretty presentation so if you want to leave it out altogether feel free to. The same with the maraschino cherries. They’re strictly for garnish and a cute touch to add to your summer cocktail before serving!

If you choose, add a small splash of grenadine to your cocktail. You can pour it over a spoon or very slowly on the edge of the glass to get a great layering effect as I did here.

All that is left to do is garnish your rum punch with a couple of maraschino cherries and you’re ready to get to drinking. It truly is as easy as that!

If you plan on serving this rum punch recipe at a party, I highly recommend pre-making your cocktail stirrers. All you need to do is pop on a few cherries to your stirrers and leave them out on a tray next to your pitcher or punch bowl. It’s as simple as that and these items below would do the job perfectly!

As much as I wish I was in the real Caribbean right now, I’m grateful I was able to recreate my own tropical cocktail at home that I can sip on by the water. My Banana Coconut Rum Punch Recipe is one for the books. You definitely want to try this rum punch recipe PRONTO.
