With the number of drinks I’ve been making lately, I’m contemplating switching my name to Cocktail Woman moving forward. I’m totally kidding but the name would definitely be fitting for me at the moment.

It’s kind of crazy actually. Back in March, I noticed a huge influx of people making my Strawberry Margarita on the Rocks recipe so I decided to do an impromptu video of me making it to share on IGTV. I put my iPhone on a tripod and recorded myself on a whim.

It was such a quick success that I decided to do one the following week. That turned into doing one the week after that which ultimately led to me starting an entire Thirsty Thursday series on my blog, Instagram and YouTube. It has been an adventure and is still going strong!

As the weeks go on, I’m finding myself trying to be a little more creative with my cocktail ideas. It’s starting to become a little bit challenging, but I’m never one to shy away from a good challenge. I’m too strong-willed for that!

Last week, Patrick and I took a trip to Total Wines and More to stock up on some of the liquors we were running low on in the house. He snagged some Knob Creek for his Old Fashioned cocktail and a fresh bottle of the Teremana reposado tequila.

On a side note, please tell me you’ve tried The Rock’s Teremana tequila?!?! Both the Blanco (silver) and reposado (aged tequila in oak barrels) varieties are absolutely delicious. I highly recommend giving them a try. They’re fabulous in my Spicy Mango Margaritas….just saying!

Once we got the spirits we went into Total Wines and More for, we just had to walk around and see what else they had that looked appealing. It was basically our civic duty to do so…

If you’ve never been into this particular liquor store, I can only describe it as a Toys R’ Us for adults. In all seriousness, it’s basically a department store broken down into every type of wine and spirit imaginable. There’s actually so much to look at it can be a little overwhelming at first!

While Patrick was getting lost looking at all the whiskeys and bourbons they had in stock, I found myself down the rum aisle. A couple of weeks ago, I made an amazing frozen banana daiquiri and noticed I didn’t have any spiced rum left to add a little floater on top. Since I was at the liquor store at this point anyway, I decided to see if there were any new brands of spiced rum that might catch my eye.

The number of spiced rums available was unbelievable! Quite frankly, the amount of rums available in general is something you have to see to believe. I was literally like a kid in a candy store. Of course, you had your basic dark and silver rums, but then the flavored-infused varieties went down almost half of the aisle I was walking in.

I saw everything from coconut to pineapple to strawberry to banana to mango rums. And that’s just a few I can rattle off the top of my head. It was at that point that I was feeling completely inspired to pick a flavored rum for this week’s Thirsty Thursday.

That’s when I spotted the Cruzan Tropical Fruit Rum. I knew I could figure out some sort of concoction to make with it. I thought it would make the perfect focal point for a fun summer cocktail recipe. I added the bottle to our cart and the rest is history!

Are you ready to see the summer cocktail recipe I came up with? Don’t forget to check out the YouTube video I made as well. It can be found at the bottom of the drink recipe.

3 oz. Mango Peach juice (I used V8 Splash but feel free to substitute pineapple, orange, or any other juice of your choice), 2 oz. Cruzan Tropical Fruit Rum, 1 oz. coconut rum, cherries for garnish (optional)

Ingredients for Cruzan Tropical Fruit Rum Cocktail

Begin by adding ice to a cocktail shaker.

You’ll also want to add ice to your cocktail glass so it’s ready to go once you shake up your summer drink concoction. I like to use these plastic ice cubes because they won’t water down your drink when they melt. Frozen fruit is another great option for this!

Next, add 3 ounces of your mango peach juice. Remember you can substitute the juice for any flavor you have on hand. I personally think pineapple or orange juice would be equally delicious!
