Easy Easter Bunny Mason Jars

These Easy Easter Bunny Mason Jars are the perfect DIY craft project to do this spring. This easy mason jar craft will be the perfect addition to your Easter decor this year.

Easy Easter Bunny Mason Jars

Mason jar crafts are some of my absolute favorites to make because they are so stinking easy. With a mason jar as your vessel, the skies the limit in terms of what you can create with them.

Over the years I have had multiple at-home Pinterest parties and almost every single time we made a craft using mason jars. You can see our Christmas-inspired mason jars and Halloween mason jars by clicking the links.

And don’t get me started on the mason jars I made last Easter that I filled with banana pudding and Easter candy. The cutest things ever, if I do say so myself!

With Valentine’s Day behind us, I am finally transitioning my seasonal decor up for spring. However, as I was putting away my Valentine’s Day decor and getting out my Easter bunnies and pastels, I noticed I have ZERO mason jar crafts to display with my Easter decorations.  How can that even be possible?!

Knowing that I was lacking mason jar decorations for spring, I decided it was a must that I try my hand at making a few of my own. I’ve seen so many cute ones floating around Pinterest and knew I needed to have a couple of them to display in my own home for Easter.

I grabbed my crafting supplies and got to crafting. Surprisingly, or maybe not too surprising, I had everything here in the house already. I’m one lucky duck!

So without further ado, let’s get to making some adorable Easy Easter Bunny Mason Jars.

Easy Easter Bunny Mason Jars

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Mason jars (How many you want to make, is up to you!)
  • Acrylic or chalk paint (I used teal, pink, white, and black acrylic paint)
  • Sandpaper
  • Glue gun/glue sticks
  • Paintbrushes/Foam brushes
  • Twine
  • Scissors
  • Rubbing alcohol/cotton balls
  • Foam for ears (I used white and teal)

materials to make Easter mason jars

Begin by removing the lids of the mason jars and putting them aside. You won’t actually need your lids at all so feel free to stow them away and use them for another fun craft.

Using rubbing alcohol, clean the entire outside surface of your mason jar

Once cleaned, begin applying your first coat of paint to your mason jar. I used a foam brush to do this.

Note: I used paper plates to help contain the mess that comes along with painting. I used one paper plate per mason jar. I simply squirted the paint I was using to cover the mason jar on the plate as well as used it to sit my mason jar on while drying.

Allow the mason jar to dry completely before applying another coat. Feel free to use a blow dryer to speed up the process if you’re in a hurry.

The amount of coats you decide to do is completely up to you. I ended up doing four because I wanted my colors to be vibrant and the mason jar to be fully covered. This is truly a personal preference.

Next, using sandpaper, gently sand over any wording or raised areas on your mason jar. My mason jar had only one raised area to sand. If you’re wanting a more distressed look for your Easter mason jar craft, I recommend looking for jars that have measurements on them.

With the mason jar prepared, it’s time to create the Easter bunny face on it. The colors you use to make the face are up to you. I opted for a white face on both my mason jars. Pink would be adorable too!

To make the bunny face, start with an upside-down heart. This will be your nose.

On either side of the nose, make two same-sized circles as cheeks.

Using black paint, make a mouth, eyes, and add some freckles too!

Put your mason jars to the side to dry one more time.

Once dried, take one end of a piece of twine and hot glue it to where the lid of your mason jar would go.

Continue to wrap the twine around the top of the mason jar making sure to add a little dot of hot glue here and there to make sure it’s secured.

You want the entire top space where the lid would go to be covered with the twine.

All that is left to do now is make your bunny ears from the foam. I used white foam for the outer ear and then the teal for the inside part of the ear.

Using your hot glue gun, glue the inside of the ear to the outer part.

Next, hot glue the ears to the inside of the mason jar.

Once you hot glue both inside the jar, you’re done!

At this point, how you decide to use your Easy Easter Bunny Mason Jars is completely up to you. I decided to use them as vases and put some pretty spring flowers in them. You can honestly leave them “as is” or even add candy to them and give them as gifts. The world is your oyster with this project!
