Welcome to this week’s edition of Thirsty Thursdays! The cocktail I’m featuring today is my own take on a 1980’s classic, The Fuzzy Navel.
Have you heard of the drink before? It’s super simple with just two ingredients. The “fuzzy” is represented by the peach schnapps while the “navel” is for the orange juice. Cute how they came up with the name, right?!
My Fruity Fuzzy Navel Cocktail has three ingredients instead of two but it’s equally as simple to make and the perfect drink for the warmer months ahead. Fruit punch, pineapple juice, and peach schnapps are the refreshing ingredients you’ll find in my personal version of the fuzzy navel cocktail.
I can guarantee you I’ll be sipping on this cocktail a ton this summer while enjoying our lake days. It’s the ultimate drink for just relaxing by the water or for just hanging out in the backyard at a fun summer BBQ. It’s light and thirst-quenching for sure!
I do want to let you know that this cocktail can be extremely dangerous so I advise you to use caution while drinking it. I say this because you taste ZERO alcohol in this fruity concoction. The peach schnapps is so muted that it tricks you into thinking you’re just drinking a glass of juice.
I just want to remind you, you are not drinking a glass of fruit juice…you’re consuming an adult beverage! Like anything else, drink responsibly. There…I’ll step off my soapbox now.
For the record, I want to say I created this recipe specifically for “my people” who have reached out requesting an adult-drink that didn’t pack a punch. I have received many requests to come up with a cocktail that had a little bit of alcohol in it without having the taste of the liquor smack you in the face.
I get it! Some of my other drinks, like the Strawberry Margarita or Strawberry Vodka Lemonade, can really have a zip to them. This cocktail is perfect for my friends who normally indulge in Malibu rum and pineapple juice cocktails or something simple like a Sex on the Beach.
This cocktail is for you, honey! No need to thank me…
And if I haven’t convinced you yet that this cocktail needs to be in your life ASAP, I have one more thing to let you in on that I think will seal the deal. Are you ready for it?
This cocktail is completely customizable to any size you want. What does that mean exactly?! It means that you can make this drink for one person, two people, or even 20 people with ease. This makes it perfect to drink solo by the lake or just as convenient to make for an outdoor pool party of 15 people!
How is that even possible? Well this Fruity Fuzzy Navel is made by mixing equal parts of all three ingredients: fruit punch, pineapple juice, and peach schnapps. That means as long as you put that same exact amount of each ingredient in your glass or pitcher, the drink will come out exactly the same.
If I was making this cocktail just for myself I would most likely start with 2 ounces/4 tablespoons of each of the three ingredients. If I were going to make a big pitcher for a party, I would be looking at adding at least 4 cups or more of each of the ingredients. See where I’m going with this though? You have complete control over the size you want to make this Fruity Fuzzy Navel.
In my YouTube video, I talked about how I like to add crushed ice into my cocktails when I’m making them at home. If I’m sitting in my house with the a/c on, the ice is perfect and doesn’t melt nearly as fast as it would if I were outside sitting on my dock.
For long days outside, I prefer to use plastic ice cubes like these. Another good alternative is freezing fruit, my personal favorite are grapes, and then using them as ice cubes. Both options won’t water down your drink as it sits out in the warm sun.
One more option would be to make this cocktail ahead of time and then pour some of the liquid into an ice cube mold to freeze. Once frozen, you’ll have Fruity Fuzzy Navel ice cubes to keep your drink cold. That would be really fun for a party! And of course, I would recommend some fun ice cube molds to do the trick.
Or you can just drink real fast although that wouldn’t be the most “adult” thing to do and I’d never want to teach you bad habits! Wink, wink.

This looks delicious, fun, and easy to make! However, since we don’t drink, I think I’ll change a couple of ingredients. I LOVE the “Simply” drinks–they taste great but I think there is also a peach syrup that I could use instead of the alcohol. I’ll try it and let you know. Years ago I read about this alcoholic red drink–so I substituted grenadine (pomegranate syrup) for the alcohol. It took a bit of experimenting to get the right balance–but it was really good and I served it for family gatherings. I really enjoy reading about your wonderful drinks–and I think I can still use them with a bit of imagination! Thanks again for another great post!
I think this drink would be perfect with a peach syrup! I wonder if you could make a peach simple syrup using a cup each of peach, sugar, and water and then cooking it down until the sugar dissolves and the peaches breakdown. From there, run it through a strainer to remove any big chunks of leftover peaches. It would make the drink sweet but honestly, this alcoholic version is very sweet too. Hope you enjoy experimenting.
