Am I the only one who wishes they owned a Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts store come fall? Just imagine being able to whip up any coffee or tea concoction whenever you wanted.

“Today I’m in the mood for a peppermint mocha cappuccino. No wait, I think I might want to switch that up for a chai tea latte. Scratch that too. Let’s go with a pumpkin spice latte with a shot of espresso.”

Doesn’t it sound dreamy?!

Once fall arrives, having a Starbucks cup in tote is a must-have accessory to every outfit. Just check Instagram if you don’t believe me. The proof is on almost everyone’s profile page.

I’ll be getting my photo up soon enough…you just wait!

Pumpkin spice lattes, or what is now being referred to as PSLs, have actually been taking over social media since the end of August thanks to Starbucks.

They released the famous coffee drink on the 27th of August and people have been going crazy over it ever since. Don’t you wish you had that much power?!

With temperatures in the hundreds here in Florida during August, the thought of consuming a “PSL” was not in the cards for me.

For “The Boys”, however, they jumped on that pumpkin spice latte train real quick. All they have to see in the store windows or in the drive-thru is a sign saying, “It’s Back! Pumpkin Spice Lattes are Here!” and they’re ready to consume all the PSL’s they can get their hands on.

All I know is that whoever is doing the marketing for these companies really needs to come help me with mine because they are crushing it!

Our son, Zach, is dual enrolling this year at the community college and lucky for him they have a Dunkin’ Donuts on campus. According to our credit card statement, he’s consumed 1,324,988 PSL’s thus far.

Okay. Okay. That might be a slight exaggeration but I had to make a point…

Personally, it’s taken me until this last week in October to even entertain the idea of having a pumpkin spice latte. But because I know myself all too well, it was imperative for me to create my own homemade version.

The thing is, once I let loose on this seasonal favorite there’s no turning back for me. And if Zach and I are both consuming coffee like it’s going out of style, we’re going to need another household income to support our habit.

So I set forth to come up with a homemade pumpkin spice latte using espresso from the awesome Nespresso machine I got for Mother’s Day! On a side note, the Nespresso machine is fabulous and a perfect item to add to your holiday wishlist.

The result was fabulous! Zach and I enjoyed a couple of mugs full this morning outside by the lake. The recipe makes the perfect amount for two pumpkin spice lattes but you can easily double it or even triple it if you so desire!

If you’re looking for an adult-only version, check out this YouTube video I put together. Perfect to sip on when you’re sitting in front of the fire or around an outdoor bonfire.

Here’s what you need:
2 cups of milk (any variety will work), 2 tablespoons pumpkin purée, 2 tablespoons sugar, 1 tablespoon vanilla extract, ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, 2 double shots of espresso (½ cup espresso), whipped cream and sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice/cinnamon (optional toppings)

Begin by placing your milk, pumpkin purée, and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat and give it a good stir.

While your pumpkin mixture is heating up, brew your espresso. I used my Nespresso for this but you can use a Keurig or even instant espresso if you prefer. Ultimately, you’re looking for about ½ cup of espresso, or a double shot of espresso, per each pumpkin spice latte.

Next, add ½ teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice.

This next step is what will give you that Starbucks/Dunkin’ Donuts feeling to your pumpkin spice latte. Carefully add your pumpkin milk mixture into a blender and pulse it for a good 15 to 30 seconds.
