My mom is the queen of easy recipes. I’m serious here. I don’t know how she does it but she always finds the most delicious recipes to make. She’s consistently finding something new to bring to a party, and every time, people go crazy over it! For Patrick’s birthday back in August, she put together these delectable Italian Party Sandwiches and people couldn’t keep their hands off of them. They’re a huge crowd pleaser and would make a great addition to your Super Bowl party menu.
If you follow my blog you know that I have named appetizers as one of the five Party Must-Haves. Wondering what the other 4 are? Click here to find out!
Appetizers are truly the ultimate party food because they are easy to prepare and hold up nicely throughout the duration of your event. When I think about it, pretty much all of my parties consist of mainly appetizers. Serving appetizers allows me to have an array of options for my guests without killing myself in the kitchen. This is a big benefit because it relieves a ton of stress off of you as the host.
What’s even less stressful is when you have an amazing mom who offers to bring something to share at your party. Just be careful, sometimes others’ dishes might outshine yours! That’s the norm when my mom brings something to the party. Her dishes are pretty much always the favorite and fly off the platters. Maybe I get my cooking genes from her? I’m nowhere near her level yet but I’m getting there. It might be at a snail pace, but I’m headed in that direction. Hopefully…
Without further ado, here’s how to make my mom’s Italian Party Sandwiches.
So what do I need to make Italian Party Sandwiches?
2 packages Crescent rolls, 4 eggs, 1 jar roasted red peppers, ½ lb. ham, ½ lb. Genoa salami, ¼ lb. swiss cheese, ¼ lb. provolone cheese
Begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees.
Spray a 9 x 13 pan with cooking spray. Normally I like to use disposable aluminum pans for this. I cut up the food in the aluminum pan and then place it on a platter when it’s done cooking. I can easily just throw out the pan when I am finished. If you plan on serving the appetizer directly from the baking dish then I would recommend going with something a little nicer. If not, spare yourself the hassle of washing an extra dish and go for the disposable pan.
Next, lay one roll of crescent rolls on the bottom of the baking pan. Using your fingers, gently press the seams of the individual rolls together. Also, try to spread the dough all the way out to the edges of the pan.
Once the crescent roll dough is spread along the bottom of the pan you’ll need to cover the rolls with the Genoa salami.
On top of the salami, you will then place your provolone cheese.
The next layer is your roasted red peppers. Drain all the juice from the container.
Remove any excess moisture by gently pressing the peppers between two paper towels.
Place the roasted red peppers on top of the provolone cheese.
Now add the ham on top of the peppers.
Add the swiss cheese on top of the ham.
Take 3 of your four eggs and beat them together. Pour them over all your ingredients.
Take your final tube of crescent rolls and lay that on top. Make sure to press the seams together and spread the dough as far out to the edges as you can. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Mine wasn’t and it still came out great! Tip: I found it easier to unroll the crescent rolls on the counter and press the seams together. I then carefully placed it on top of the other ingredients.
Beat your final egg and brush the top of the crescent rolls with it.
Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, remove the foil and allow the sandwiches to bake for an additional 15 minutes.
Once finished, pull it out of the oven and let it rest 5 minutes before cutting into it.
I promise that once you eat these Italian Party Sandwiches you are going to be hunting me down for my mom’s phone number! Yes..they are that good. Thank God for moms. Am I right?

These look absolutely amazingly delicious! OMG–I’ve got to try these this weekend! Plus thanks for the tip of using a disposable aluminum pan–that will make clean-up easier for sure. I love layered sandwiches and these look so pretty when you cut them–they will be the perfect sandwich to serve at the next family party. Tell your mom–thanks!
I will definitely relay the message to my mom 🙂 She always shares the best recipes with me! These are a huge crowd-pleaser and a go-to recipe when hosting a gathering. Thanks for the comment!
Can these be served cold or room temp, or are they only good when warm?
Hi Conney,
You can definitely serve this room temperature. We put them out hot but they eventually came to room temperature after sitting on the counter and they were just as good.
Hope this helps,
Tiffany
What do the eggs do for the sandwich? I am not an egg fan, but the sandwich looks delicious.
The eggs help bind the sandwich together. You honestly don’t taste it at all. These are so darn good! If you try them, let me know what you think…being a non egg lover 😉
