Super Easy 7 Layer Dip
This Super Easy 7 Layer Dip is the perfect appetizer for Cinco de Mayo, Super Bowl or any party for that matter. Enjoy this taco dip with some tortilla chips and a cold beer. This easy appetizer never disappoints!
What does one do EVERY Sunday from the months of September through February? Watch NFL football of course. At least that’s what we do here in our house. It’s a given. There are no negotiations. As an expert football fan, I know the best way to watch the game is with a cold beer in one hand and some delicious snacks in the other. One of my family’s favorite snacks is my Super Easy 7 Layer Dip. It’s guaranteed to take your game experience to the next level!
I have to admit that football is our life. I’m not joking here. We are literally obsessed with the NFL, and more specifically, the Miami Dolphins. If you subscribe to my weekly newsletter (sign up here!) you know how deep this obsession goes. We are season ticket holders and drive over 3 hours each way for all our team’s home games.
Still not convinced we love our team? We spent New Year’s Eve driving back and forth from Miami with the possibility of ringing in the New Year driving on the Florida Turnpike. We are diehards! You can’t question our loyalty.
In true Dolphins fashion, our season is over with no appearance in the playoffs. Again! Although this is disappointing, the stress is now off us and we can sit back and watch the hunt for the Superbowl unravel before us.
So on this glorious Sunday, I am sitting on the couch drinking Best Damn Root Beer, snacking on my Super Easy 7 layer dip, and watching the game in the background. The only thing better than this would be if my team was playing! Oh well, there’s always next year…
So what do I need to make this Super Easy 7 Layer Dip?
16 oz. can refried beans, 1 can Fritos bean dip, 2 Roma tomatoes, 1 bunch green onions, 2.25 oz. can sliced black olives (drained), 1 packet taco seasoning, 1 cup sour cream, ½ cup mayo, 2 cups guacamole (store-bought or homemade), 8 oz. package shredded Mexican cheese
This layered dip fits perfectly in a two-quart casserole dish. An 8 x 8 casserole dish is exactly 2 quarts but I have a Pyrex dish that’s 2.2 quarts and it comes with a lid so that’s what I used in this recipe.
Start with the bottom bean layer. Mix the can of refried beans and Frito bean dip and spread it inside your casserole dish.

The next layer is your guacamole. You’ll need about 2 cups of guacamole for this recipe. If you have homemade guacamole on hand, great! I went with the store-bought kind that I found in the produce section of my grocery store.
For the third layer, you need to mix together 1 cup of sour cream, ½ cup of mayo, and 1 packet of taco seasoning.
Add the mixture on top of your guacamole.
Layer four is simple. Sprinkle as little, or as much cheese, over the taco seasoning layer as your little heart desires. I used almost all of an 8 oz. package.
The last three layers are vegetables. Begin by chopping your tomatoes and green onions. Drain your can of olives while you’re at it!
Layers 5, 6, and 7 are your tomatoes, green onions, and black olives. Sprinkle the veggies over the shredded cheese to your liking.
You’ll need to cover the dip and place it in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours for the flavors to come together.
Serve with tortilla chips and enjoy!
This Super Easy 7 Layer Dip is great for a day like today when it’s just “The Boys” and me watching the game together. The real reason why I think I’m so in love with football? It’s something that brings my family together every Sunday. I say I’m obsessed with the game but I think I’m equally obsessed with the time I get with “My Boys”.

I love 7-layer dips! Your recipe is slightly different than mine–but you add extra olives which I would like to do but my family is not an olive-lover like I am! Thank you for sharing this recipe–I’m going to try it–you add the refried beans (mine does not) but I like the addition. And thank you for all your fabulous step-by-step pictures–they make everything so much easier to follow!
I would love your recipe! I have never met a 7 layer dip I didn’t like so I’m sure I’d love yours 🙂 Good thing about this dip is you can put as little or as much of the toppings you like based off your family’s likes. Enjoy!
