Happy Thirsty Thursday to you! Today’s edition of Thirsty Thursday is being brought to you with mixed emotions on my part. I’m a little all over the place in terms of how I feel about it. Let me explain…
Today is officially the last day that I will be sharing summer cocktails with you. With next week starting the month of September, I’ll be moving into some more fall-inspired adult beverages instead. I guess I need to start pretending that it isn’t still over 90 degrees here.
I’m excited to accept the new challenge of creating fall cocktails but equally as sad to say goodbye to summer. If you didn’t know, I’m a Florida girl! I love the sun and my tan lines. Summer is just my happy place. Knowing that it’s basically over is kind of depressing for me.
To add salt to the wound, our son Zach is starting his senior year of high school which makes me want to grab onto summer even longer. Like I said, I’m an emotional mess today. And here I thought you didn’t start getting emotional until after the alcohol kicked in!
Knowing I wanted to end my summer off with a bang, I decided to recreate one of my all-time favorite summer adult-beverages: sangria! Although I do indulge in an occasional red sangria, you’ll most likely find me sipping on the white sangria variety instead.
I find white sangria to be a more refreshing option during the summer. And since Florida is typically hot ALL YEAR LONG, there’s never a bad time to order a glass of white sangria when dining out or heading out for Happy Hour.
A typical sangria contains wine, fruit, and some sort of additional spirit or liqueur. Knowing these are the three main ingredients, you can simply play around with different combinations to appeal to your likings. It’s actually kind of fun. I’m already working on a sangria idea for fall to share with you!
Before we get into the exact peach sangria recipe I created, I wanted to answer a couple of common questions that arise when making sangria.
What wine goes best in sangria?
Like I just mentioned, the best part about making your own sangria at home is the fact that you can customize it to your own palette. Typically though, a drier wine like a Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio is more common in a white sangria. Because you will be adding sweetness to your sangria through the addition of fruit and liqueur, picking a drier wine helps tame down the sweetness factor. On the flip side, if you’re all about the sweet cocktails, pick a sweet Riesling or Moscato and you’ll be living in heavenly bliss!
For today’s white sangria recipe, I personally went with a wine from a local winery that is more towards the drier side.
What fruit goes best in sangria?
I think the better question is, “Which fruit doesn’t go well in sangria?” I’ve had everything from apples to oranges to lemons to limes to berries to watermelon to peaches in my sangrias. Oh, and cherries too! Honestly, let your imagination go wild here. For this white sangria, I opted to add peaches and strawberries and boy was I happy with that decision. All I can say about this flavor combination is, “YUM YUMMY YUM!” Yes, it’s that good!
I took this cocktail to the next level and made my white sangria with peach schnapps and triple sec. Peach schnapps is a peach liqueur and triple sec is orange flavored. Both pair nicely with the white wine and fruit I added inside this sangria recipe.
With all that out of the way, are you finally ready to give this white sangria recipe a try? Let’s make a cocktail!
White Sangria Recipe for One
0.5 oz/1 tbsp orange juice, 0.5 oz/1 tbsp triple sec (orange liqueur), 0.75 oz/1 ½ tbsp peach schnapps, 3 oz/ 6 tbsp white wine, peach slices and strawberries
Begin by muddling a couple of slices of peaches and strawberries in the bottom of a cup.
Next, add your orange juice, triple sec, peach schnapps, and white wine to the cup.
Add some ice into your cup.
Give everything a good stir for about 15 to 30 seconds to chill all the ingredients.
Strain the white sangria into your wine glass.
Finish by adding some more peach slices and strawberries to your glass.
If you’d like to make this same recipe for a crowd, here’s what you’ll need to do:
1 cup orange juice, 1 cup triple sec (orange liqueur), 1 ½ cup peach schnapps, 2 bottles white wine, 2 -3 peaches and strawberries (sliced)
Place everything into a large pitcher and let it sit in the refrigerator for at least an hour for the flavors to marry together. When serving, place a nice spoonful of the marinated peaches and strawberries into your glass before pouring in your sangria.
Whether you are making this white sangria recipe for one or 10, just know that there’s a huge likelihood you’ll need to make even more of it to keep everyone happy. White sangria with peach schnapps and triple sec is just that good, there could never be enough. Just trust me on this one!

This looks amazingly delcious, Tiffany! You have shared some fabulous drinks on your “Thirsty Thursday” series that I know a lot of people have loved! And I can’t believe that Zach is a senior already! Time flies–and I hope he has an amazing senior year! And yes, it’s hard to believe that September is almost here and temperatures are still in the 90s!

Time sure does fly…it’s amazing to me!! Thank you so much for supporting my Thirsty Thursdays. They aren’t going away, just moving into some more seasonal appropriate creations. I’m a little nervous because fall flavors aren’t necessarily my speciality.
