Chocolate, ice cream, and sweets, OH MY! Learn why you should visit Toothsome Chocolate Emporium at Orlando Citywalk during your next trip to Orlando, Florida.

Why You Should Visit Toothsome Chocolate Emporium at Orlando Citywalk

I’m coming to you today with a PSA that’s literally life-changing! It’s probably up there with the importance of recycling or picking up after your dog while taking her out for a walk.

It’s epic! Mind-blowing! Unbelievable!

I know you’re probably saying in your head as you read this, “Come on, Tiffany. Spill the beans already. Tell me everything I need to know!” At least that’s what I would be thinking if I were in your shoes…

But you need to hold your horses for a few. I’m getting there, friend. Just let me set the scene for you first!

A couple of weeks ago, my mom and stepdad came over from Tampa to meet me and Zach for lunch. I should probably mention that my entire family’s love language is food! Any outing, vacation, or visit together centers around what everyone wants to eat. It’s how my family rolls!

Sometimes we travel to Tampa to visit my mom and Frank, sometimes we meet in the middle in a city called Lakeland, and then the other times we end up here in Orlando. Wherever we end up, we always do our best to pick a new restaurant and try something different.

I can’t tell you how many hours of my life have been spent looking up restaurants on Yelp for all of us to try. For the record, Yelp is definitely one of my favorite apps ever. It comes in very handy when traveling too. If you don’t use it and you’re a foodie, you should!

Because I know we were trying to make an entire day out of it, I decided to search for restaurant ideas around Disney and Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure. There’s so much to do in those areas and even just walking through the shops in Disney Springs or Citywalk can be a ton of fun.

My husband Patrick and I don’t have passes for either park, but we did buy a premier season pass to Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure for our son, Zach. With that pass, he gets many perks including free premium and valet parking plus a percentage off of food and merchandise at the parks and Citywalk.

At the beginning of January, my sister and boyfriend came to visit from New Jersey and we spent one of the days of their trip at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. During that recent visit, I remember eying Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and saying I NEEDED to try it.

After checking its rating on Yelp, I asked my mom and Frank if they would be okay with trying the restaurant out for our lunch date and they so nicely agreed! And that is how this whole adventure began…

Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen is somewhat of a newer edition to Orlando’s Citywalk. Prior to this, that same location was the home to a restaurant called NBA City. We actually frequented that restaurant often because we are huge NBA fans!

I do want to mention for all my sports fans, that there is an NBC Sports and Grill in Citywalk for those of you wanting to watch the game!

Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen is a full-service restaurant, bar and confectionary designed in a Steampunk style. What is steampunk? Don’t worry, I had to look it up too…It’s a genre of science fiction that has a historical setting and typically features steam-powered machinery rather than advanced technology.

You’ll find yourself emerged in all things smokestacks, gadgets, and robots before ever entering the restaurant! It’s really a fun atmosphere and extremely visually appealing.

Once inside, you’ll be happily greeted by every single dessert option you could possibly ever imagine!

You’ll find cases full of truffles.

Even more cases of truffles.

Chocolate bars that reminded me of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Chocolate covered nuts and pretzels.

Even chocolate-covered bacon…Oh my goodness! It’s insane, right?

There were also cookies, dessert shots, mason jar desserts. Literally, every dessert you can think up in your mind!

It took some real willpower on my part to not want to buy everything in the store. Remember, I still had lunch to look forward to.

On the opposite side of the confectionary HEAVEN, you’ll find a full-service kiosk that sells all the amazing milkshakes and desserts found on the regular restaurant menu at Toothsome Chocolate Emporium.

I just can’t! Look at the options available to choose from. It’s almost impossible to pick just one. If you’re visiting Orlando on vacation, I highly recommend you just stop by the kiosk every night of your trip to try something new.

Both the kiosk and confectionary kitchen are walk-up options and don’t require you to have a table. If you just have a sweet tooth but aren’t interested in having a full-blown meal, this is a great option for you to have.

Personally, my idea of a perfect day would be grabbing one of those delicious milkshakes for the road and just parking myself on a bench outside of the restaurant. Eating ice cream and people watching are ranked pretty high up there in terms of some of my favorite things to do in this world!

Are you not excited about this restaurant yet?!

In addition to everything I’ve already shared, there’s a full restaurant with a complete brunch, lunch and dinner menu. And of course, a complete dessert menu to end your meal off just right!

Unfortunately, the restaurant does not take reservations so you’ll most likely have to wait for a table. This wasn’t a huge issue for us because we walked around the confectionary kitchen while we waited and drooled over all the delicious sweets.

We were seated after waiting about 15 – 20 minutes. Knowing Citywalk and how busy it can get, I personally would expect to wait at least 45 minutes to an hour around dinnertime. We were there on a Monday for lunch and still had to wait a little.

The menu had so much to choose from. They had everything from salads to burgers to flatbreads to crepes!

My mom and I have been obsessed with brussel sprouts lately so we opted for the roasted brussel sprouts as an appetizer. Holy cow, were they amazing! They had jalapeño mayo, cotija cheese, and ancho chili powder. I would highly recommend them!

For the main meal, my mom and I both got a flatbread and shared them. We did the French Onion flatbread that had caramelized onions, gruyère cheese, parmesan cheese, and crispy fried onions. The other one was a Short Rib flatbread that had braised short rib, shallot jam, fontina mornay, micro arugula, and lemon zest. Both were super yummy!

Zach went with the May Contain Bacon burger that had a half-pound patty, bibb lettuce, smokey thick-cut bacon, grilled pork belly, pineapple chutney, and chipotle Jack cheese all on a pretzel bun.

Frank had the Red Reuben sandwich that had corned beef, swiss cheese, braised red cabbage, grilled artisan rye, and 1000 Island dressing.

They were both pleased with their meals!

And because we weren’t full yet, we ordered dessert. Don’t judge. You can’t visit Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and not splurge on the dessert menu, people!

Zach opted for the Marshmallow Crisp milkshake which consisted of vanilla ice cream, rice crispies, marshmallow fluff, fresh whipped cream, and a rice crispy treat on top.

The rest of us shared the Brookies, Cookies and Cream sundae with vanilla ice cream, rice crispies, marshmallow fluff, fresh whipped cream and rice crispies treats. Have you had a brookie before? It’s a brownie and chocolate chip cookie baked together. It’s heaven!

We ate so much that we practically needed to be rolled out of the restaurant! But it was worth every single second of it.

Are you ready to try Toothsome Chocolate Emporium at Orlando Citywalk yet? Before you do, let me share a few things from our visit that might help you enjoy your experience to the fullest!

  • Pace yourself if you want to thoroughly enjoy your dessert. It is really easy to want to order a lot of food because there are so many delicious options on the menu to choose from. I recommend sharing a meal or appetizer if you’re hoping to make it all the way to the end of the meal without exploding.
  • The appetizers and desserts came out really quickly but the main course took about 30 minutes. All the tables around us were experiencing the same thing. I did a little reading of reviews online and read similar comments referring to this same issue. Just keep this in mind and try to look at the downtime as an opportunity to digest before indulging in more yummy food! We didn’t mind the wait but other tables did ask to see a manager so I felt the need to share.
  • There’s nothing wrong with visiting Toothsome Chocolate Emporium just for dessert. In fact, that’s probably what we’ll do the next time we visit because I’m all about the sweets! Whether you buy from the confectionary kitchen, kiosk, or sit down at a table, it’s perfectly acceptable to visit just for the treats.
  • Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen are part of what is referred to as Citywalk. This shopping and dining area is right outside the Universal parks. You actually have to walk through Citywalk in order to get into Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure. With that being said, if you aren’t staying at one of the premium hotels on Universal property you will need to park in the main parking lot. You will pay the regular price for parking, currently $26, before 6pm. After 6pm parking is free.

I think that’s about everything I have on our experience at Toothsome Chocolate Emporium at Orlando Citywalk. I can’t imagine I left anything out but if you still have questions please don’t hesitate to leave them in the comments. I hope you and your family get to experience this delicious restaurant in person!

  1. This place looks like something right out of a fairytale–or at least right out of Willy Wonka’s Candy factory! This is amazing—and now on my bucket list to visit. With all those sweets–how do you choose? They are all so colorful and yummy looking!! What a great idea–they need to franchise this so more of us can experience it! And–like you and your mom–I’m becoming obsessed with Brussel sprouts (why is that? I hated them as a kid). Another great & inspiring post!

    1. You seriously feel like you’re in a fairytale when you walk in there. We actually talked at lunch about how amazing the designers, architects, and developers are who create places like these! Thank you so much for your kind words as always, Sharlene.

  2. Love this place. Been there many time and always a great time. We have the same family dynamics with our vacations and food ventures. Im sure we will always end up there during our Orlando trips. All the meals are prepared a bit different than you have probably had before and have always been great. Just a correction, they do take reservations. Every time I’ve been there I’ve made them and going in a couple weeks with a reservation.

    1. Oh wow!! So good to know. Wonder if they changed that or maybe we went during peak time when they weren’t excepting reservations. I will definitely be trying for reservations moving forward. Thank you!!
